Green Party welcomes insulation projects

The Green Party has welcomed the planning application* to clad the
maisonettes on the Lansdowne and Hanover estates, although they say they still have major concerns about the project.

Cllr Creasy, who represents Central ward, said, “I welcome the cladding,  which should reduce heating bills by insulating the walls. It is a shame that the roofs and walls were not replaced before the decent homes work (new kitchens, bathrooms and double glazing), but at least now these homes are

weather tight and waterproof.

“I remain concerned that basic problems such as unusable rubbish chutes and dodgy plumbing have still not been sorted out. And I am very concerned for the 70 or so leaseholders, many of whom are on very low incomes, who will have to pay thousands of pounds for this work.”
