Sheffield Greens joined in with an unusual protest at Sheffield Station last weekend to protest against the rise in train fares.
Councillor Jillian Creasy commented “I really enjoyed the Craftivism demo against rises in rail fares last Saturday. Abi brought everything we needed – fabric, embroidery threads, china cups and a flask of tea. It was warm sitting on the floor in the main concourse of Sheffield Midland Station as we embroidered slogans onto sections of bunting which will be collected nationally. Cllr Rob Murphy had suggested a long diatribe along the lines, or “invest in our future by renationalising the railways”. I thought two words “our future” was about all I could manage in the 20 minutes before I cycled back home for lunch with the election group and a mass canvassing session. It was the most relaxing thing I did all week and I hope the 3 policemen keeping an eye on us thought so too.”
