If council tax had increased in line with inflation throughout this parliament instead of being frozen, then there’d be an extra ~£20m/year coming in. That would have made a real difference to what services the council has to cut to balance the budget, letting them keep all of the city’s libraries open and significantly reduce the cuts to children’s services and adult social care.
I wouldn’t usually vote Green, but I probably will if the other parties remain committed to freezing council tax (i.e. cutting it in real terms) when the council desperately needs funds to protect vital services.
