Sarah Jane Smalley, Green Party candidate for Central ward in the May 22nd council elections, visited the home of Jenny Patient (lead organiser of the Open Homes events taking place in April and May) in Nether Edge to see some of the improvements that people can make.
Sarah Jane Smalley comments: “Looking around Jenny’s house gave me real food for thought. We can make such a difference to how our homes feel and reduce the amount of fuel we’re using. There’s still a chance to visit a Green Home on the weekend of 16th-18th May and I’d really recommend it. You can see insulation, draught-proofing, solar panels, heat pumps, windows and low-impact extensions.”
Jenny Patient from Green Homes Sheffield Network, comments: “We launched the Green Homes Sheffield Network to help people share their experiences of making their homes warmer and greener. I’ve been really impressed by the amount of interest we’ve had in the Open Days. Next we’re aiming to develop some training and learning days for people who want to improve their own homes”.
