Sheffield Greens supported the Cycle Sheffield campaign about Penistone Road by setting up a briefing with officers and speaking at the Highways Cabinet meeting. Cycle Sheffield are asking that pedestrians and cyclists have an input into the design of Highways schemes at an earlier stage – and Sheffield Greens fully back that. This blog by Matt Turner shows how important it is to take into account the needs of pedestrians and cyclists on Penistone Road. He likens the current crossing with playing the computer game “Frogger”. It is astounding how unsafe the current crossing arrangements are for the hundreds of students going to and from Hillsborough College. (see the video). We hope the Council are listening.
