Jon Ashe, Chair of Sheffield Green Party said “George Osborne is totally out of touch with what’s happening here in Sheffield. Thousands of people locally are struggling to pay their bills, in far too many cases being forced to resort to extortionate payday lenders or foodbanks to get by. Mr Osborne should really get to grips with tax avoidance and the banking sector; and boost the real economy here, to create stable, decent-paying jobs for people in Sheffield and across South Yorkshire.”
Here is the reaction from the national party.
Autumn statement yet another missed opportunity
How can there be a recovery when constant cutbacks reduce the number of jobs and services? Osborne clearly doesn’t know what he’s doing-or perhaps he does-using the recession as an excuse to do what the Tory Right always want-destroy the public sector-cut taxes for the rich-and cities like Sheffield just don’t matter.
