The Sheffield and Rotherham Green Party is holding a public meeting on the evening of Wednesday 10th December. The speaker, Richard Wilkinson, co-author of ‘The Spirit Level’, will explore why tackling inequality helps create a more sustainable world.
His book shows how every member of an equal society is better off for it, an idea which has been labelled “big enough to change political thinking”. The public meeting will be followed by the Party’s AGM, which is also open to the public. Membership has doubled in the course of the year, so there is likely to be a large attendance.
Jon Ashe, local Greens’ chair, said “Equality and sustainability are needed more than ever. They’re right at the heart of our policies. The growing levels of Green Party support and membership indicate that lots of people agree.”
The meeting, titled “Equality and Sustainability”, begins at 6.45pm at the Central United Reformed Church, S1 2JB (on the corner of Norfolk St & Chapel Walk in Sheffield city centre)
