Drivers have again been getting earache from passengers as buses run late in Sheffield due to roadworks. But they don’t make any of the decisions that delay passengers. When a bus is taken out of service in front of angry passengers it’s acting on instructions from inspectors. It’s the same when rerouting is needed to avoid a temporary obstruction or accident.
Drivers have an increasingly difficult job to do and deserve our support and sympathy for the road conditions they often encounter. Any earache, if needed, should be directed to the bus companies and the utility companies who are constantly digging up our roads.
