President of Bolivia Evo Morales has called a World People’s Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth 19-22 April 2010 “to put forward radical measures to ensure the well-being of all humanity in harmony with nature”, to launch campaigns including a World People’s Referendum on Climate Change, and press for countries to sign up to tackle climate change.
To participate, you don’t need to go to Bolivia – Sheffield Campaign against Climate Change are holding a satellite event in Sheffield, to link with the peoples of the global South and campaigners for climate justice and social justice across the world. We want to connect our Sheffield realities and our efforts with the global movement for climate justice.
We especially welcome young people to join in any of the sessions. All ages are welcome and there are creative sessions throughout the day that are suitable for parents with children. Join any part of the day.
Speakers include:
Tim Jenkins – UK Sustainable Development Commission on Prosperity without Growth
Martin Empson – Campaign against Climate Change Trade Union Speaker
