A lot of people are unhappy with the major political parties and will vote against them. They feel let down by 30 years of broken promises.
Some people are tempted to vote for the BNP. This might be because the main parties have forgotten about people in poverty who have lost hope of jobs. We all need ways to feel pride in ourselves but the BNP only have one answer for all society’s ills; they blame immigration and Black and minority ethnic groups living in Britain for all our problems. This is wrong but it does show that the BNP is racist and fascist. They are un-British as they go against our traditions of tolerance, freedom of speech, democracy and fairness. The very values we defended in the war against Nazism in Germany and fascism in Italy. A vote for the BNP is one for hatred and intolerance and will not solve the many issues facing this country in the 21st Century.
There is a positive and progressive alternative to the major parties. The Green Party offers solutions to issues like growing inequality, jobs, housing, poverty, education, fuel poverty and climate change. It is the only party with a serious commitment to public services, civil liberties and social justice. The Green Party supports people and communities taking control of their lives to find the right answers to their problems. Green Party candidates stand in an increasing number of constituencies at each election, and plan to offer the voters of Hallam, Central and Heeley and all Sheffield council wards an alternative in this year’s elections, aiming to add to our three Councillors. Also there is a very good chance that Green Party leader Caroline Lucas will be elected in Brighton to become the first Green MP in Westminster.
Yours sincerely
