Sheffield Greens are invited to the Sheffield Campaign Against Climate Change AGM and Public Meeting
Tuesday 16 October
A Frack-Free Future: Opposing UK’s second ‘Dash for Gas’
A speaker from Frack Off the Brighton-based extreme energy action network that has been leading opposition to Hydraulic Fracturing (fracking) and other extreme methods of extracting fossil fuels. They have done extensive research into all aspects of UK based fracking and are organising direct action in collaboration with local residents in affected areas. www.frack-off.org.uk
AND Simon Bowens, Friends of the Earth, Yorkshire and Humber Campaigns Director on local fracking potential and FOE actions.
We have failed to control global CO2 emissions. We continue to invest in ever more extreme extraction of fossils fuels rather than investing in alternative energy or reduce consumption through programmes of housing insulation and public transport. This is a chance to hear about actions that are being taken around the country and likely local extreme fossil fuel extraction sites.
